About Pre Prepared Bats
The terms "Knocked In", "Pre Prepared" and "Ready to Play" seem to cause lots of customer confusion. Please see below an explanation of the terminology used by the bat making industry and on this site, to hopefully enable you to make the right bat purchase.
KNOCKED IN - this can be described as YES, NO or PART. YES means the bat is Ready to Play. NO means that the bat needs to be fully knocked in by you. PARTmeans as described in the PRE PREPARED note below. PRE PREPARED - part prepared by the manufacturer, including oiling and additional pressing under a factory roller. These bats are NOT fully prepared and NOT ready to play. Please use the BAT INFO link at the top of every page of the site for advice and notes on the "Knocking In" procedure you need to carry out prior to use. READY TO PLAY - as of now only G&M bats make this claim... with their GM NOW labelling clearly stated. However, please see note below as we believe the more you look after your bat the better and longer it will serve you. Whatever the individual bat makers policy, immediate play with your bat is not advised. A minimum of 14 days pre use knocking in is considered as a reasonable time period especially before full match use against a hard new ball. Please use the BAT INFO link at the top of each page for advice and notes on the "Knocking In" procedure.
